President: Philip Daulton
Hi, I’m Phil Daulton, the 2006 ROK President, and it’s my third term as such for the club. Previously I was the club scribe for a year, doing the newsletter. Previous to that I was one of those back benchers who sat on his hands and never volunteered for anything. My mistake, I really enjoy what I do for the club. I’d like to thank Richard Webb for introducing me to this fine organization shortly after I moved here in 1995, it’s been fun. Riding since 1981, would have been sooner, but Mom said “no”. I enjoy back road running for the sheer joy of it, and long trips when I can squeeze ‘em in. I do the annual pilgrimage to Daytona, and have done so since 1990, it’s The Official End of Winter for me. I also hit as many motorcycle races as I can. First bike: 1978 Suzuki GS750E (wish I had it back). First BMW: 1974 R75/6, promptly turned into a basket case, which still lurks in and under the house. First real BMW: 1988 R100RS, a.k.a. “Traveler” after General Lee
’s horse. I took Traveler on my first real solo long distance trip to Arizona in 1991; she’s still with me. Other BMW’s: 1973 R75/5 runs, with wiring problems. Other bikes: 1983 Honda VF750F Interceptor, 1995 Honda VFR750F, 1998 Honda VTR1000F Superhawk, and 2007 Kawasaki KLR 650.
